Caring for Outdoor Sculptures: An Interview with John Campbell by Richard McCoy

September 27, 2010

My close friend John Campbell, Head of Conservation at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, TX was recently interviewed by another friend, Richard McCoy, Associate Conservator of Objects & Variable Art (how’s that for a title?) at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

The interview is a really smart discussion between two guys who know their stuff, and John comes through as the sweetheart he is.  Especially impressive is his effusive support of his interns–if only we could all have a boss like John!

You don’t need to know alot of technical details about conservation to appreciate the article.  In fact, I think all artists should know at least a little about what goes into taking care of the artwork they make, so check it out!
