Hand-Painted Signs

A hand-painted sign uses a charming illustration of a dog, and a fun typeface, to advertise dog treats.

I bring the principles of art and design into the creation or upgrade of your signage. Balance, emphasis, rhythm and contrast are a few of the tools in my toolkit. I can reproduce your logo and tag line, or create striking graphics and copy that will draw attention to your organization.

I have several years of professional experience painting commercial signs, both as a Lead Artist at Trader Joe’s, and for clients such as Tacoma Yacht Club.

My specialties are:

antique hand-lettering techniques

fun or quirky sensibility

illustrations that are charming and/or stylized

color that communicates

evidence of a human, heartfelt touch

A hand-painted sign depicts a tent and a row of pine trees to advertise camping supplies.

I’m fluent in a variety of materials, techniques, and scenarios:

paint and professional markers

indoor and outdoor signs

substrates of wood, paper, foam core (or other – let’s discuss)

A hand-painted sign depicts a piñata beneath a row of “papel picado”, the lace-like Mexican paper, to advertise for Cinco de Mayo.

Because each sign is different with regards to size (and sometimes height!), I base my rates on the requirements of your individual project. Please contact me to discuss your thoughts and needs, and I’ll prepare a quote.
