The Interim Director of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), Anne-Imelda Radice, tells the House Appropriations Committee that the organization is in danger of “going down the tubes” due to artworks and exhibitions that include sexuality. She was appointed by George H.W. Bush after he asked her predecessor to resign in the wake of public outcry over Robert Mapplethorpe’s exhibition.
